Seriously, I said I chunk only when the chunking iron is red-hot for large (small window). It is the most reliable way to take big bass, a technique over looked by most.
To answer your question I only chunk when I chunk (despite what an upcoming article might say
), absolutely no plugging. Chunking offers you a shot at a (very) large so being 40 yards down the beach when you rod goes off is...ummm
...not something you want to do.
