You shouldn't be out in the ocean with a SIT IN kayak with-out a spray-skirt... You really shouldn't be out in the ocean AT ALL with a SIT-IN type kayak...

You can take kayaks out on the ocean, if anything a sit-in would be BETTER, less drag, you can roll it if need be, its a pain in the A$$ to flip a sit-on-top back upright, also a sit-in has a V hull that can cut throught the waves while a sit-on hase a U hull that would make it harder to track.
