Ive used windows for years.. and have never had to shell out a penny for it.... Magical thing them torrents. Well maybe thats not 100% true, I did buy Vista, but only because I needed it for my job and didnt feel like dealing with the security or the pirated version.
Im curious, most people who I know who have swapped to linux are
1. Power *nix users.
or
2. Normal users who just feed into the anti microsoft hype of which I say I would be alot more worried about google taking over the world at this point...
or
3. People who just want something different. In which case I dont really buy it because a gui is a gui, and most gui's at least resemble windows.
What was the cause for your switches? Because unless your building a machine from scratch, the cost for windows on a new machine is somewhat negligible IMO..
I need to build a development machine sooner or later to work on PHP stuff. Ill prolly toss ubuntu on it, but linux is still not ready for prime time... Unless your not a gamer.. for email/web browsing/documents its fine..... Unless WoW or AoC put out linux clients which I dont see happening.
and yes.. I am biased being a gamer and a .Net developer.
