Well like I said something always happens. I am getting my tin boat together today as the fishing areas I go to in the spring only require the small boat. I throw the 15 hp Johnson on the back and proceed to take off the lower unit to replace the water pump which I do every year as I am always in very shallow sandy areas. Notice one of the 6 bolts is gone, oh well so I take off the first one , snap. The next three ok. The next one snap. Drop the lower unit and notice the other one has snapped , not missing. So I got 3 snapped and 3 out. Got plenty of drills and taps so I drilled out all 3 with a crappy hand drill I have, PIA, but 2 are going to need helicoils, which we have at work thank god. Just another fun thing about owning a boat.
I think I waited too long to replace the zinc, every other year I do it, on the motor and the stainless bolts ate into the aluminum lower unit.
