Honda 1KW Generator woes

All;
Got caught in those T-storms last week in Providence River w/ the r/v, and took a beating at a dock while waiting the squall out. In the fray, managed to get our Honda 1KW generator knee deep in saltwater.

The upside: it wasn't running.
The downside, it is an inverted model, so I have a feeling the electronics are fried. we are debating options from replacing to having it serviced to see if it is savable.

What I've done so far.
Immediately upon returning to our dock, completely rinsed in fresh water.
Upon getting back to the office, doused inside and out w/ WD-40
Drained gas. looks clear (no water
Same with the oil

let it dry out for 5 days

it will turn over, but not spark. Plug looks clean and dry (no salt) worked a drop of oil through the system manually.

I'm not particularly mechanically inclined, but I can take things apart, clean them etc..

Anything missing I could do while we decide how to proceed...

thanks.
