Oh by the way I'm a 14 handicap with Ping clones and I fish a 8' Ugly Stick with Penn spinning reel and could use all the help I can get with it. Still learning all the different types of retrieves, rigs, etc. Someday I'll invest the dough when I have it. Until then I enjoy my time on the course or the water and appreciate what I have.
How the heck do you have time to fish and golf? Do you know some secret I don't know about? Before I got married and had a child, I did each a couple of times a week. When I got married, I only had the time to do each about once a week. Then I got tired of spending 5 hours on the course playing behind people who were spending 10 minutes in the woods looking for a top flite blemish ball, so I decided to get back to fishing as my obsession. Now, I fish as much as I can (which isn't nearly enough) and golf 2 -3 times a year.

Back to the topic at hand. I have a 7' Ugly Stick paired with a 4500ss that I use for schoolies early and late in the year. I like the rod and if I ever need to, I'll replace it with the same thing. I wouldn't spend big bucks on a rod that only gets used a few times a year.
