I got a fish one time off Highland light that was 54" and 43#. Another time I had one that was 46" and 46#, so you never know. On average, the above posts are pretty accurate. I think Sea Dangles 44# fish this spring was only 45", but was very thick.
Catch them first , weigh them later I always say.
Fish doesn't need to be 46# plus, either. 36# and up will help as there's a couple teams right in our weight bracket now. Every ounce counts.
