Ice cube on the inside piece below the joint , hot facecloth over the outside part of the joint. get the rubber jar openers and after the ice and hot water simultaniously for about two minutes , pull and twist at same time. I wouldn't use a wrench. You could cause a torsional failure. A permanent one piece is better than a broken two piece! good luck.
