I just went through this gill net routine with fisheries people about a month ago. I may even have the e-mails still on file.
What I came away with is that the a recreational fisherman may use a gill net with a net no bigger then 200 sq ft. There are two ways to get licensed for a larger net. One way is a commercial licens with a net endorsment, about $160.00. The second is a licenes which cost less, probably the $60.00 figure stated. HOWEVER, the catch with this little number is that you can only net if you have NO ONE ELSE on the boat at the time you are using it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The logic here escapes me but there it is.
