New York subways were loaded with GI's as the result of heightened terror alert.
I read this as the reaction to things like Mumbai, and being able to respond more quickly in the circumstances as if there was a terrorist event on our soil. I don't see the right wing aspect of it at all. but you can read the tea leaves your way if you want.
