9 wt is rediculously too "heavey" use a 5 or 6 weight . Scorton used to be pretty good several years ago until some magazine articles targeted it and caused it to be overfished. Before the articles the largest searuns ran 3 - 5 lbs. on the average there. Now, there stocked trout about one pound. Forget about wrenching them up with a 9 wt. It would be like using a canon to shoot a rabbit!

If I were to fish for them again, I'd use small sand eel pattern or small "mummy" ie "kelly" patterns. Incidently, a lot of small stripers over winter there as well as the Barnstable Marsh. Still, this require a small rod this time of year.
