I know, winter sucks if your a striper fisherman, but when the winter is harsh the fishing the following season is usually good. I don't know why but it just is! Also, there are some good movies out there. Slum dog Millionare, Frost/Nixon, Clint's new one is a must see, and more. And, I don't know where you live, but Providense winter over striper fishing is WELL worth your effort. Fish after dark around Hemingways restaurant which is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. Use 1/4 oz to 1/2 oz jig heads with 4"white or greyish blue zoom flukes, sluggos, finess fish or the like. It's really pretty good fishing right through the winter. Bigger fish seem to be more plentiful this year. I had a 12 pounder last month and several of my friends had fish up to 40 inches so far. Also, there is plenty of elbow room. Alot of guys don't like the cold. Also, Ice fishing is very, very good. This is the first time in alot of years that we(RI) have had fishable ice. Get some shiners and go catch a big pike or large mouth. Check with local tackle shops for best bit. Most of the ponds here in RI are producing. Wordens has been good for pike. DEM stocked trout and some big salmon in a few lakes too.
