The best way is if you have another identical reel, or one with the same spool capacity. If so, load the extra spool first, putting on your braid first. When all the braid is gone, tie the backing on using an albright (or similar) with a touch of super glue for extra knot strength. After the glue has fully dried, spool up with mono until you get it as full as you prefer.

Then, take the tag end of the mono and begin spooling it to the reel you wish to use and you will end-up with all your braid and just the amount of backing you need.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
