2009 Fluke Regulations for MA

This is not official, but I was speaking to a guy from the MDMF at the RI fishing show on Saturday and he indicated that they will be cutting 10 days off the fluke season compared to last year and adding 1/2 inch to minimum length (so 18" now).

He wasn't sure how the 10 days would be cut but thought June 15 to August 10 was the likely schedule. They orginally wanted to keep June 10 as the start data (and end on August 5) which is good for us recreational guys. However, the commercial guys (head boats) are doing a lot of scup fishing in early June so they wanted to delay the fluke start a bit.

I guess MDMF decided to compromise between the desires of the recreational and commercial guys. We should hear something official soon.

Anyone else know more about this?

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
