If I remember right, that's taken from a longer documentary on PBS that used 'Stand By Me' as the central theme being performed by street musicians all over the world - South Africa, India, Europe, etc etc

I want to say it was on Bill Moyers Journal - you can check it out at PBS.org if you haven't seen all of it yet -
