I send a nice letter explaining what happened, how long the guy was there, explain that I have a contract and that it does not allow them to charge me for the call b/c its not mentioned in the contract. No response to the letter and the charge is still on the bill. After they clean the furnace next month, I'm getting a new oil company.

I hate to say it but that's a tough call for your oil co.to not to bill you,yes you had no heat due to the mishap but the bottom line remanes the same, you have no heat.
So you contact your Oil Co. tell them that your furance isn't working so they send out a Tech to find the problem, he trouble shoots for a few mins and figures out it's just a simple flip of the emergancy switch it may have took him only a few min but he got you back on line, that is billable.
Even though it was a quick fix for him but it was still hard enough to stump you Guys.
I don't know how far he/she had to travel, but it's time on the road & most service co.s charge for travle time and
at least a half hrs labor no matter how simple the problem was.
Some Co.s will try to work with you and trouble shoot over the phone,I know,I do.I try to help you out as much as I can so I don't have to go,belive me I have some good ones
