No news here, I have thought about this for some time, the only logical reason for this has to be a genetic imprint of some sort. Otherwise theoretically they could all show up at once at one location and nowhere else which would have grave consequences on the entire ecosystem.
They are programed to go to several locations as the season progesses, places where the abundance of bait will coincide with thier arrival and it's demise coincide with thier genetically fostered urge to move to the next local until the signs all point south for most.
