If the chicken is frozen, it will thaw out quickly and sink by itself, if it's fresh chicken, that should sink rather quickly too.
Like going from mono to braid, you will notice a LOT more of the action when not using any weight....and on those days that us crabs are finicky, any added resistance will cause us to drop the offering as the weight will sometimes get hung up on river bottom
objects...
