The more dragonflies mean there must be more for them to eat, meaning skeeters.
Fortuantely, they are only dangerous to insects that are smaller than they are.
At most of the ponds I've fished, the dragonflies are plentiful, and will feed all day long, and when night comes, they are replaced by the bats. Throw in the the daytime bird feeding on bugs, and you've got one heck of a 1-2-3 punch against the skeeters.
I love the color and size variations you encounter with the dragonflies.
It may be linked to the amount of food the get as nymphs/larvae.
