It's even more basic than that: If you FEED any wild animal, it will begin to make a connection between humans and food, period.
Once that happens, the animal will soon lose its fear of humans, and will begin to approach people aggressively, EXPECTING to be fed.
It goes the same for small backyard birds and squirrels up to seals and bears. The same tree-hugging morons that think seals are "cute" are probably the idiots that have been feeding the geese with their kids, and then have the gall to complain when their pond is closed due to bacterial pollution!
Screw with the natural order of things, and be prepared to pay the price in the end.
How long will it be before the seals on the cape start chasing the people away?
