Damn, I Got Moist Last Night

Ya know, I've gotten a helluva lot less wet fishing in Nor'easters...

Took a walk to the south end of The Long Walk with a buddy, figured it'd be a little drier on a higher perch with the swell rockin' and rollin' - fat chance...

The swell pushed in a lot of water, square waves hitting the cliffs and a steady 20-25 out of the southwest with higher gusts...

If I had a nickel every time I took white water over my hat, I'd have had enough money to buy a fine set of custom golf clubs

Oddly enough, we ran into Earl from the Edge taking a combination albie/photo walk who wanted a couple of shots of me and Mac in full regalia - as a joke I put on my sou'wester hat - in hindsight, I shoulda left the sonofabitch on

After an hour and a half of self-abuse we moved over to the other side of the Drive - just in time for the wind to switch to the south and hurl white water over me like a riot hose.

So that was it, I quit - until tonight, anyway...

Tell ya the truth, it was actually pretty invigorating - in fact, some bigger bass and fewer blue fish would have made it downright perfect

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
