Yes you can use blood. Bunker oil works great as does ground up bluefish , mackeral, squid, pogies. Figure for 10 gallons of chum per day/trip and 10 gallons of "cuts" for the slick. I use 3 or 4 baits always circles. Farthest bait 75 yards away is my deep bait. 50 yards is my intermediate depth bait and the next closest is 25 yards away shallow bait. Place balloons on line as bobbers and you can see whn the bait is getting hammered.
As for bait bluefish filets butterflied, whole pogie or mack and if you are looking for makos you cant go wrong running a live bluefish. These sharks like to hunt their food.
