My (now Boy Scout) sons and I helped run our local pack's Pinewood on Saturday morning too. I was instructing a new Dad in the configuration and use of the ancient DerbyMaster software. I keep an old IBM T30 laptop that still has a serial port just for this purpose!

We had 41 boys compete, a new high number over the previous year's 38. Good times and lots of smiles.
Plastic track by Derbymagic - interesting track, 38' long, some complaints. The Scoutmaster said it was a good option pricewise -v- the aluminum tracks.

Paper hubcaps, hmmm, interesting. Self lubricating wheels would be against pack / district rules.
