Went to the show last night and it was a mixed bag. Seats were terrible in the 300s at nearly the back of the Garden. Audience was appalling. Made worse by the fact that they were primarily close to my age 50+). Chatting, texting and screaming. People directly in front of us showed up for Jeff's final two songs and then left 5 songs into Clapton's set talked all the way through.
On the positive side Beck played well with a very good versions of Nessum Dorma and A Day in the Life that was backed by strings. No ill effects of the finger accident at all. He had a different female bass player than TW. Clapton's set was ok with him being the only soloist of note. There was no Doyle Bramhill or Derek Trucks as a counter or foil. No Cream tracks mostly stuff from his solo career. At the end Beck came out and joined Clapton's band and the played a number of Yardbird tunes, Moon River, some blues and Sly Stone's I Want to take you higher. The show was worth the money for this part alone. Great interplay between the two with a few really cool call and response type things as well
