I believe the part about a 44 year old having to go through the whole licensing process again. The part I don't believe is the part about you having a friend.
Maybe there's a desperate aquaintance who
might let you give them a ride after all their other options are exhausted, but I doubt even that. A round trip in a car with you from East Bay to Pawtucket might be more unpleasant than dealing with the registry.
