It`s not that no one has a book to offer, but no surgestion!
I`am self trained, I was in a real bow camp my first 15 yrs. No radio no tv no wife`s etc An excilent chef, and a few drunks. I can only say that the Tv shows are typically product promotion but you will get some idears. Also try some magazine.

On a another note it typically takes a good [hard worker] 10years for there first deer, and an adverage hunter will never see a ture Boone Crocket [sp?]. And few will ever shoot [or see] 180 class or better. 200 near impossible to get a sight of, but i have friends that got em! However location location location, on Long Island a 120 class is great at 95lbs. However there are guys I know that will not shoot anything less!! They hunt corn farms use cameras and do there homework 12 months of the year. And than there`s alway Mr Lucky! As Tred Barta says if you stand in the woods long enough a deer will run into you! lmfao. Ture, I know.
The must!
Good camo , I use a gilly suit and can wear anything under as needed.
Practice over and over, I shoot 4 or 5 times a week for 3 months before and the 3 months we hunt. Surgesting, you join a range you learn from great shooter "they will offer help" just like in fishing.
Get in a tree stand 1 hour [plus] befor light, I seen many deer befor light [while car doors are slaming] as the bucks get bigger, they get smarter, and like a 20 yr old guy, they will be hanging where the girls [does] are when in heat [rutting]. I hunt no less than 18 feet high, but try to get up as high as 25`.
Just like cow hunting [striper] it`s a little diff than every day Striper fishing, guys that get 50lbers didn`t get em sitting on the couch! or luck
Learn your area, equipment, deer movment and mostly be safe, 1 of ever 4 hunter will fall from a tree stand, 1 in ever 10 falls are deadly.
Someone will in there opinion might say some thing diff, but this is a start.
But these general rules work for me in my area. I am not bragging just shareing my hard earned time/work 26 deer includes a 10, 7, 6 x6`s a few spikes the bal doe which taste the best , 2 bear [not over bait] real huntin 255lbs and
242lbs in NY . I not only seen many 180+ but miss 3 [one which was 14 and may of went 200+ never to be seen again.
Few people got it natureally [I`am not one] and there is no subtute for exsprience, good hard work = good hard rewards fishing or hunting. If you love trophy hunting for fish you will love deer hunting. Your first score will be the high of high, take picture make notes and again be safe!
