Crippled Herring Hook Replacement

This is a proven winner at the CCC for me as well as generations of anglers. Chunky early season schoolies seem to love them. They are one of my go to early season fun trip lures and the single hook makes releasing both starfish, mussels, and all the small fish much easier. My question is do you replace hooks right out of the box or only after they begin to wear? Either way whats your choice for replacement? I have gotten some nice fish on them as well and I just would rather be ready if a large fish was to ever take it.

Thanks
James
