Slip - you beat me to it... Very important page to read if you are concerend with this area - still important if you are not.

Here is an excerpt:

Last reports from the field as of 6:00 PM
Sorry for the delays on the updates this afternoon. My staff and I were doing assessments all day, and calling the information in.

There has been a lot of confusion among residents of whom to call for oil slicks onshore or oiled animals. Residents should use the oil spill Command Center numbers above to report specific problems only.

Some municipal officials and Buzzards Bay municipal oil spill coordinators we spoke with this morning complained that they felt they were not being kept in the loop. Meetings have been taking place with municipal officials and the Coast Guard at the Command Center at the Mass Military Reservation to iron out these communications problems.

The biggest news is that Buzzards Bay is being hardest hit between Mishaum Pt (Smith Neck Road) Dartmouth and Gooseberry Point Westport. These are some of the most remote and hard to reach areas along the mainland portion of Buzzards Bay. This area is also the home of the Lloyd Center for Environmental Studies, which is now heavily involved with animal rescue.

The big unknown is how much oil has been landing on the Elizabeth Island chain.
