Arrow scorton creek tagged tiger trout

the division of fish and game will be tagging and releaseing 100 tiger trout into scorton creek this week.

THERE ARE NO REWARDS OR PRIZES FOR THE RETURN OF TAGS.

Thses fish were tagged and released for the purpose of gathering information on the migration of the fish in and out of the creek. These fish range in size of 3/4 to 1 1/2 lbs.

The information the state would like to gather is the tag number, the size of fish, any distinguishable markings and most importantly the location in or out of the creek. Also if the trout was found inside the belly of a striper.

If a Fisherman catches a tagged fish and would like to keep the fish, please return the tag to the Division of Fish and Game South East Dictrict Headquarters located on Bourndale Rd in Bourne.

Catch and release fisherman, please take the notes mentioned above and release the fish. Please do not remove the tag. Information can still be gathered from the fish, if the tag is left in.

The state has tried this before in years past. Tiger trout were stocked into the creek and about a week later, a Tiger trout was seen at the herring run in sandwich. This means two possible things happened

1. someone put the fish in the herring run. or

2. the trout swam out of the creek, headed north and swam into sandwich creek via old harbor.

there have also been reports of fisherman catching them at the mouth of the creek when striper fishing.

ALL INFORMATION IS CRITICAL. Information and feedback is how we keep programs like this running.
