I would like to second the welcome to the hook in the hand club. I hope it is resolved currently, and you are OK. Was a fish involved?

The best thing is not to panic. Get the hook off the plug. I am of the mind set: remove the hook ASAP. I do not recommend this to others, just me. Always have a cutter that can cut your largest hook, test it before hand.

I cannot guarantee that I will not get a hook embedded again, but I do know we will all get injured again, some how.

When I did it, I did not have a good cutter. I pushed it through, but couldn't cut it. Once the Harbor master saw the hook, they made me go to the clinic (I was heading for the hardware store to get a cutter).
