I think most great fisherman should be able to adapt to any condition. Its always been my goal to learn and try any form of fishing weather bait or artificial. But theres nothing wrong with catching fish how ever you prefer....there is just no wrong way. I could care less if herring are ever allowed, for me does day were a lot of work. A plug bag full of lures is all I need and the days with fish out number the skunked ones so I dont mind one or two every now and then. Its good for a reality check. Pencil do catch fish and lots of fish. I haver always been a polaris man when it came to poppers, but i fished the beaches a lot then. Now that most of my time is spent in the ditch a pencil is more eficiant in the current tho polaris do work great while tide is crawling......By far my favorite way of all is the danny or swimmer...this has always been my thing and will continue no matter where I fish..I find it to be my easier then bait plug
