I were laid off 11 (1992) years ago and I know how you feels about it.
As a man, we definitely need job to support our family. Though sometimes members of it are not so lovely, we still love them and want to take care of them.
Hopefully, the unemployment pay check can sustain your dailily living a bit and my suggest to you are:
1. See whether you can have your own business in i.e. striper fishing or tour guide in these area
2. Attending whatever recruiting conference is available in this area and keep yourself opened to a change
