Go with the fireline. I thought i read somewhere that people were making aftermarket rollers more suitable for braids?

more mono get a big 1# spool of Berkely Big Game (color? green) or
Ande 20# back Country if you can find it and be sure to respool every 5 or so outings. Clean limber line beats year old sundried mono any day.

Also make sure that you are reeling on the line tight enough in the first place.
