OK, originally had plans to go and fish with Afterhours last night but I - in the nicest way possible

- decided to blow him off in favor of taking my kid fishing instead. Hi Don
A particular place has had a good bite of small under and not far over keeper size bass for several days now, fish relatively close to shore more than obviating the need for He-Man casting. In other words, in range of a decent kids cast.
So we went down, waders and all, into the mouth of the beast which is the east end, close to a parking lot.
Of course, we ran into Roy which automatically improves anyone's horseshoe luck factor.
At first I was getting fish at the end of the cast every so often when I would have him reel in the fish. With the exception of a bluefish long ago, he's not had the experience of reeling in keeper sized fish in moving current. Being more than his typical schoolies or small sweetwater fish, more work was involved, but he handled it well. Am I talking like the proud dad? He reeled in his first and second keeper sized fish.
We had cycled through a few different lures for him, knowing he wanted to use one he got from Larry this winter but not wanting to loose it to Bluefish but he put it on for his last dozen casts as we were somewhat confident we far enough away from the bluefish massacre as we'd managed to stay solely into bass.
So while earlier he'd reeled in his first keeper size fish, now he casted his prized BigFish lure, hooked, fought, and landed his first keeper Striped Bass with dad only handling the leader

- The fish ran 30 inches.
He is very excited. The lure will be retired, and he will be eating his first striper he caught from end to end.
So no, no 50 for the cup but one proud father and one very excited kid
