repirts, V20 Steplifts are fine boats.

They handle very well and it's a safe boat too. Just have the motor checked out good. I wouldn't be too concerned about the gas tank. I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with an inexpensive poly tank and you'll never have to worry about corrosion again. Just use it as bargaining power if you really think you want it.
Also, something else to consider; You didn't mention the age of the motor but I suspect it's at least 12-14 yrs old. Even if it checks out fine, it's still an old motor an should be factored into the negotiations. Then when it's all said and agreed on, you have to decide if you can live with the investment if the day comes and it needs a repower.
I'm not trying to scare you, but I've owned several boats and yes, I've gotten burned in the past.
I would say if you like it, offer them $3500.00 and go from there.
