I could be wrong, but I don't think BasicPat meant what you think he meant. It's tough competing with Live herring during herring season. I'm not saying it's impossible...I'm just saying it's tough. As far as letting the guys who did the hard work have the spot...

The canal will be a very crowded place for the next few ****...and they'll be plenty of line-crossers who don't know how to fish a swiftly moving current. If your fishing Rhode Island and you can't score any herring...word on the water is...scup are showing up. Live-line a legal sized scup.
