Too bad for him. As he is a professional guide taking his people out, he is responsible for showing his clients presentation and hopefully catching fish... You happened to be doing the right thing and there was no fault on your end. 'Course, he's probably upset that he couldn't say "Well, looks like the fish skipped this spot today" or something along those lines...
