You hooked it, so you're doing things right. Now it's just a matter of getting back out there and doing it again. Good luck!
A couple of years ago, I was fishing with my dad and we were doing well with high teen, low twenty pound class fish. The bite slowed for a bit, then my dad hooked up with a small fish about 26". All of a sudden, he yells "holy bleep" and I looked over to see a huge fish leaving a wake behind it following the small bass to the boat. I thought it was a shark, but as it got closer we both realized it was the biggest bass we ever saw. It nailed the smaller bass and knocked it off the plug, then took off. We couldn't figure out if it was trying to take the plug from the small fish, or eat the small one. After that, the bite died.
