The truth causes offense.

I use the Penn slammer 360,460 & 560. Cost was less than ONE VS. I have used them all incessantly (aren't we nuts !) since last season. NOT ONE PROBLEM. A few years ago Penn had serious anti-release malfunctions on their 3500 + series. They fixed it. Designed a new reel.

Yes, Shimano and others have nice reels.

Bottom Line ? Do they work ?
