I became an Eagle scout in 2001 and I will tell you that these days it is not an easy task for both the scout and the parents, there is alot of peer pressure when he gets that that age to particpate in other activities, and it is great to hear that some still achieve that in there lives and it will pay off for him later on with what he learned and earned .congrats for him and your family on this outstanding acheivement
