The bottom line is you got like a day, a specific day figured out by a calculation of the growing degree days, as to when they will hatch and start towards the buds to kill the little buggers as they try to wedge into the bud. They don't bore into it the squeeze into it. They are about the size of an small eyelash. They can't get into the bud until it is swollen and starts to separate just a wee bit and then they can squeeze into the bud and eat it from inside out and thus not be able to be killed by any spray until they emerge and start going for the leaves but the damage has been done to your crop as the bud has been killed and no buds, no flowers, no need for bees, no fruit. Pretty depressing if you like your blueberries, apples, etc...
