you are NOT required to pay a sales tax on purchases outside of Massachusetts.

Federal court decisions have found that sellers that are not in some way physically located in a state cannot be required by that state to report sales or collect sales tax for that state, even if the purchaser is located in the state.

That is why Massachusetts created a Use Tax which is what you need to report on your tax return....this is the difference between what ever sales tax you did pay for the item and what MA charges for sales Tax.
