I have no idea why you would think I'm defending my child? I never mentioned my child, just the school policies in general. And to use the phrase "precious child" is a little weak.
Then there a those that defend a child for bring a small pocket knife to school. I suppose that is learning a social kill.
Not sure why this is even coming up in a debate about bringing food into a class to celebrate a childs birthday? Maybe you're reaching a bit here? Totally irrelevant to this discussion.
The teacher is there teach and the student lis there to earn and raises his or her hand when they want to speak. This will teach the child respect and knowing the true purpose of what they are there to done.

Spoken like someone who has absolutely no clue as to what schools today are like. Children first and foremost should be learning respect at home and bringing that respect with them to school. Parents have to have some responsibility with their children. You are right that teachers are there to teach. They also are there to help with social development so as the child grows up, they can adapt better to the real world. If teachers were just there to make sure that kids knew their ABC's and math, they could easily be replaced by robots or just put the kids in front of computers doing problem solving all day.

Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio
