Curious what the "boga death roll" is? The jaws on mine rotate when the fish goes into a spin while weighing, never had a single issue with it.
I bought a boga thirty before the start of last season. I consider it one of my favorite purchases in surfcasting. Built like a tank, great to get a quick weight, and invaluable for the feisty smaller fish or bluefish. But I agree, the cost is significant.
