I had two pairs of the older ultralights with permanent carbide cleats. My first pair lasted over 5 years and were still nice when my friend's son outgrew his boots and I gave him mine. No problems with laces or anything else. The older style had 15 cleats each, but I think 19 or 20 would be better.
