Got power back yesterday, went out early Sunday AM, unfortunately not in time to take a shower before chemo therapy, now I can't take one until it ends on Friday. Fortunately, we found 300' of extension cords and my neighbor hooked us up to his generator on Monday so we got the 3"in the basement pumped out, but with a pretty significant loss, including 3+ years of OTW magazines.
The major gripe? My whackjob neighbor on the other side is a yard fanatic. The water coming from the basement finally made it's way into his backyard. He knocks on my door telling me I have to stop the pump, not because it's a threat to flooding his basement, but because he took the afternoon off from work so he could get every leaf and little twig off his "pristine" yard. The day before he had taken every downed branch and twig in his yard, dragged them across my front yard and piled them up in front of my house and did the same to his neighbor on the other side, making sure there was nothing in front of his. In the past three days I bet he's logged about 10 hours on his leaf blower. I guess disasters like Irene bring out the best and worst in people. Everyone else of us bonded together and helped each other out as much as we could.
