First of all if you were chunk fishing and didn't have your line weighted you wern't down 10 -15 ' you would only be down about a foot if that.

drifting with chunk bait is a NO !! NO !! Always anchor up when chunk fishing and try to sight fish them in shallow water

Drifting 1.5kts or less with live bait is GOOD!!! for stripers on the surface or trolling deep

When fishing inshore KNOW the draft of your boat. Check inshore areas at low tide and a minus tide is best so that you could see the hidden rocks that claim propellers and memourise these spots.
