I'm an electrical contractor, I see this a few times a year. A REAL screwing would be the insurance not paying at all. $500 is a lot better than nada.
I had one customer who had a fire because of a treechick falling on the lines. They tried not to pay calling it an "act of God " TOTAL BS!
In the end they did pay (almost 2 years later)
