The video stated that some kids were expelled for "not helping the victim". Putting the ethics aside, I didn't know there was a legal obligation to help someone out in a situation like that.

as stated above. The parents have brought the receipt for the sneakers to the authorities. They are pressing criminal charges on the kids.
