All religions are cults;or were at one time. Unless you have a sign on your front door indicating your denomination how would they know.Similar to the Jehovah's Witnesses (cult/religion) they are compelled to go door to door to spread the word.This is how they serve their God.Respecting others will make you feel good,there is no right or wrong in religion.
